NWCLA Past Meeting Program for 2009
January 8, 2009
January’s meeting will cover alternative energy choices for our buildings. Our guest speakers will be Borrego Solar Systems and our NWCLA sponsor Maki’s Building Supply. They will be speaking about energy savings for our buildings, things landlords can do on there own such as weather-stripping, chaulking, etc.
February 12, 2009
February’s meeting will feature Rick Egan from GFA Credit Union in Gardner. Rick will be speaking about the different loan processes in today's market. We will also have Rob Pingeton from the Exchange Authority discussing the benefits 1031 exchanges.
March 12, 2009
March’s meeting guest speakers will be Bernie Sullivan of the Gardner Board of Health, Michelle Powell and Ann Cramer of the Leominster Board of Health, and Cindy Soule from Montachusett Opportunity Council (M.O.C.) speaking about the Get the Lead Out Program.

The Massachusetts Fair Housing Center will be providing our members with a fair housing training course. In this open session we will learn how to pre-screen tenants fairly, avoid the pitfalls and mistakes made in our advertising, be aware of what can be discrimination. Come down to test your knowledge and see if you are doing things right when you screen applicants.

October is Fire Prevention Month with Special Guest Speakers John P. Grenier, Public Adjuster of Fire Losses, and Lieutenant Sally Tata - Director of Fire Prevention of the Fitchburg Fire Department. Come down to get up to speed on the new smoke detector code laws and how they affect your buildings. Also find out what you should know about your fire insurance claims. Don't forget to swap out your smoke detector batteries for your tenants this month too.

Christmas Social – Come one, come all!
This is our Annual Toy and Pantry Drive where every year we make a food donation to a local food pantry and we also fund a Toy Drive to donate to one of our local charities. Tons of raffles, lot's of great food, and PLENTY of holiday cheer.
